What are Cookies?
Cookies are similar to small footprints. A special file, called cookie, is saved to your computer when you visit a particular site. A cookie consists of a small amount of data with information about what you do when you visit the page. Information on what you did during previous vivits sent by the Web server to your browser and can then be retrieved from there.
Are cookies dangerous?
No, cookies are not dangerous. Cookie files are plain text files and can not contain viruses. The files are small and both Netscape and Explorer allows only a certain amount of cookies stored in memory. There is no risk that the memory becomes full just because you allow cookies.
Can I say no to cookies?
In order not to allow cookies, do the following: - Netscape: Select Edit / Preferences / Advanced. Internet Explorer 7: - Click on "Tools" menu. Select "Internet Options". "General" and "Web History" Click "Remove ...". In the next dialog box that appears click the "Delete Cookies ...".
Firefox: - Click on "Tools" and "Settings" from the menu that appears. Then select the 'Privacy' tab. Click "Show Cookies" and "Remove".
